To My LGBTQ+ Friends: Don’t Hide

[An open letter to all my LGBTQ+ friends and everyone who are in the same community. From my heart to yours. I love you guys. <3]

You probably know me as a Christian. With all the posts that I have written on my social media accounts and even when exploring this blog, maybe you’d think I’m a devoted Christian. And you’d probably say “Han, you’re all about Jesus, and the Bible and all those stuff.” – well, I’d probably take that as a compliment.

But if you think that I hate you just because of the faith that I have, you’re wrong. If you think that I hate you because other Christians do, you are again wrong. And if you think that I hate you because people tell you being gay is a sin, you’re definitely wrong.

And I wanna hug you right now. A really really really big tight hug.

I love you.

I love you because God loved you first.

So don’t hide.

Let me tell you this. You do not know me completely but God does. He knows I am sinful, broken, unfaithful, and the list goes on. Yet you know what? He showed me what love really is.

He accepted me just the way I was. And that give me no reason to despise and hate you.

I may not know you fully but God sees everything in your heart.  And you don’t have to hide. Because despite of the negativeness there is, please know that He loves you still and forever.

If the God who is perfect accepts you, how can I not?

Nobody can say somebody is more sinful and somebody is better. Nobody can be holier than thou. We are all equal, loved by the perfect God. You are loved by God.

I love you because God loved you first.

So show yourself.

When I say You need Jesus, let me tell you that it’s not because I’m perfect and holy, because I’m not. I’m sorry if it made you feel lack and less. Show yourself because you’re not lesser than anybody else.

Oh dear, please hear me out. I tell you that because I have experienced how it is like without Him. I tell you that because I know how it feels like when you have Him in your life.

You need Jesus just as I need Jesus, and in dire need of Him everyday in my life. You need Jesus because you sin, just as I need Jesus because I sin.

I love you because God loved you first.

So unveil yourself.

God sees your worth because He is your maker. So don’t let the society dictate what you are. Don’t let their words define you because they’re not the one who purposed you in this life, neither do you.

Know that God doesn’t despise you because of how you dress, how you walk and talk, and how you do things, differently than the norm.

Don’t be afraid to unveil yourself. His wrath is not upon you. It’s upon the sin. Because sin promised us eternal death. But God promised us eternal life.

Just as God offered me salvation along with forgiveness when I am sinful, that same gift is available to you right now. Just as I was in need of a way to be saved from forever dying in hell, I want you to experience the same love that I have received.

The love that Jesus showed me give me hope to be with Him in a place where there is no more room for trails and pains, forever.

Heaven is full of bliss and as much as I’m sure of this, I want to see you there.

And that’s one reason why I wrote this letter. To share to you the love that will lead you to eternal life.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV

Going to heaven isn’t based on what we have done right, not through some religion nor rituals, not through wealth nor achievements.

Salvation is only by our choice of believing.

Only by faith on the finished work of Jesus on the cross; only by believing that He died in our place to save us from sin, He was buried taking the sin away forever, and that He rose again proving that He is the son of God, to give us new life.

I love you because God loved you first.

So reveal yourself… to God.

This salvation is available to you. This is not bound for a certain gender, or for a certain group of people. Anybody, including you, can surrender and reveal himself humbly, in front of God to receive that gift.

Dear friend, please know that nothing that we’ve done could stop God from giving us that gift. And nobody can stop us from receiving that gift, unless we’ve chosen so ourselves. (Though I really pray that you’ll choose to say yes!)

With all my heart, I wrote this letter to share that gift to you. I wanted you to know that you are loved and so much loved more than you think you are.

And if I want you to be with me in heaven, God wants you more than I do.

God accepted you already with all that you are. Are you willing to accept Him?        (Please say yes! Say yes! Say yes!)

Can you say this prayer with me?

Dear Father

I thank you for the gift of life. I confess that I am a sinner and that I’ve done a lot of horrible things that are not pleasing to you. Indeed, I am in dire need of a savior and I cannot make it on my own without your help. This moment, I humbly accept Jesus as my savior. I believe that He died for my sins, He was buried and on the third day after, He rose again, to give me new life. Thank You God for this salvation. Today, I ask for your help to make Jesus the center of my heart. Help me God to change my heart so that I will be someone who you planned me to be.

This all I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please know that I love you.

I love you because God loved you first.

From my heart to yours,
