The Fashion That A Mother Wears

She is seen with the same home clothes she wore two days ago. It looks like a usual day that she prepares breakfast for her working husband and her children going to school. It is a mundane picture showing that she has just met her role, as a wife.

But amidst those subtle things and the simplicity that she has, she wears something worth more than the most expensive wardrobe that there is. As a woman of God, more than diamonds and jewelries, branded clothes and high heels, make ups and wrinkle concealer, she wears a beautiful clothing God has provided her with.

She wears virtue and faithfulness.

Above material possession, she has a kind heart for her children. The act of preparing not just an ordinary meal, but full of thought of love, shows how faithful she is to serve her household. She takes good care of her children and protects them from anything that could bring harm. Her heart is for them that she would let herself be pained over them. She is a high class woman.

She wears zeal and strength.

She rises an hour or two before the sun does. Her time of sleeping remains a secret as everyone slept before her. Yet as another day came, she prepares food and the clothes for her household, with passion and enthusiasm like it’s her first time. She does all the chores and work with all the energy and optimism brought to her by the existence of her family. Nothing she cannot do for her family and her fear is only for the Lord. She is a strong and passionate woman.

She wears compassion and honor.

Easily her heart is moved by seeing those who are less fortunate than her. She thinks of ways to give help and serve her community. Her service is not bounded by the walls of her home rather with unlimited strength from God, she reaches out. With pride and confidence, she talks and acts as she knows what she is doing. She is a woman with beauty.

She wears wisdom and excellence.

To people with different ages, she talks and relates with them. She thinks well and decides on what’s for the best and tries her best to discern what the will of God is. With excellence, she demonstrates love. Her actions are evidence of her words. She is a woman of grandeur.

As God is within her, her heart transcends the physical attributes that the world defines as beauty. Her worth is far beyond what the world demands. And her works are not for the sake of accomplishment yet she does for and with love.

She is a woman of God and praises and rewards await her.

10 An excellent wife who can find?
    She is far more precious than jewels.
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her,
    and he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good, and not harm,
    all the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and flax,
    and works with willing hands.
14 She is like the ships of the merchant;
    she brings her food from afar.
15 She rises while it is yet night
    and provides food for her household
    and portions for her maidens.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
    with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
17 She dresses herself[e] with strength
    and makes her arms strong.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.
    Her lamp does not go out at night.
19 She puts her hands to the distaff,
    and her hands hold the spindle.
20 She opens her hand to the poor
    and reaches out her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,
    for all her household are clothed in scarlet.[f]
22 She makes bed coverings for herself;
    her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates
    when he sits among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them;
    she delivers sashes to the merchant.
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing,
    and she laughs at the time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
    and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27 She looks well to the ways of her household
    and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
    her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women have done excellently,
    but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
    and let her works praise her in the gates.

to all the mothers out there, especially to my mother, Ana 💜

May you continue being a Proverbs 31 woman. Or if you’re on the process, may God be with you on your journey so that you’ll be able to be the kind of woman He has called you to be. Thank you for your love and care.

With the love of the Lord,
